Kipp’s Fried Chicken (Homegrown KFC )- favorite childhood fried chicken!
Would you believe that Kipp’s Chicken has been around since the 1980’s? Just like Tropical Hut, it is a very underrated homegrown fast food chain that specializes in fried chicken.
You can say that it is the Philippines’ local version of Kentucky fried chicken (KFC) and one of my favorite childhood food.
Craving for that familiar tasty fried chicken, we visited Kipp’s Chicken at SM Megamall Food Court for lunch.
Our food from Kipp’s Chicken Menu
Kipp’s Chicken and Spaghetti with Chicken Burger Patty
What I like about Kipp’s spaghetti – They use real chicken meat mixed with their own pasta sauce recipe. The spaghetti sauce is thick and has that special homemade taste. You can tell that it is made with real and better ingredients and not instant pre-mixes found at the grocery.
Majority of fast food spaghetti that tastes like banana ketchup with cheap hotdog slices.
Crunchy chicken burger patty – the patty is very tasty and the breading reminds me of Japanese style tonkatsu. It is like the chicken version of Yabu tonkatsu.
Kipp’s fried chicken – The chicken skin and breading is crispy. The taste is one of a kind. After all these years, it is still the same delicious, tasty, satisfying taste I remember since I was a kid.
Other fried chicken from fast food chains in the Philippines has a chemical instant powder breading taste that reminds you of junk food seasoning.
Gravy – The texture is thick and tasty with a hint of pepper. It really goes very well with the fried chicken.
It is by far the best gravy I’ve ever tasted! It does not have that chemical junk food taste from fast food stores that offer unlimited gravy with the texture that is watery and tastes like salted cream soup.
2 pieces Kipp’s Chicken with Spanish Rice and Macaroni Salad
This is my usual order if I’m craving for a taste of Kipp’s Chicken, it is very satisfying when you combine having it with their tasty Spanish rice and sweet macaroni salad – both are their own recipe!
Final thoughts
Kipp’s Chicken is still the best friend chicken in the Philippines. It is a very underrated and hidden gem in SM Food Court. Kipp’s Chicken fried chicken recipe is one of a kind that is tasty and delicious which really satisfies. I am amazed that they have managed to maintain their taste after all these years.
If you want a better fried chicken alternative to Jollibee, Mc Donald’s and Bonchon, then Kipp’s Chicken is for you to try and won’t disappoint.
